The man standing at the corner was Boo Radley.He was checking to see if everybody was alright.

Scout's ham costume is significant to what happened because there was a gash on the side of it. Scout probably would have been killed or seriously injured if not for the protection of her costume. On, the other hand, it altered her balance, causing her to be unable to run.
3. I think it is Bob Ewell did it. I think this because he seems like the kind of man that would do that. Also he was lying on the ground with a knife stuck through him.

If he weren't there Jem probably would have died and scout wouldn't have known they way home and she would have got lost.
