His death is "typical" because in maycomb many black people were killed. Even when they did not desirve it. In this time it was very typical.

1 The title is revealed because Atticus says its a sin to kill a mockingbird. When the children ask why he says that the only thing that they do is make beautiful music. They don't harm anything and so its a sin to kill something for no reason.

The reason Tom's death is called typical is because not to many people liked him. He had lost a case in court and then tried to escape. To them, this is typical for a black person.
