#1. Tom Robinson's testimony helps his case because he stays calm the whole time he's answering question up on the witness stand. His testimony also went along with the evidence that Atticus uncovered about Tom and his one good hand. It hurt his case because Bob Ewell and Heck Tate made it seem like Tom wanted to rape Mayella Ewell.

#1 His testimony helps him because it shows that he couldn't have choked her with one strong hand, at least all the way around the neck. It hurts his case because they now know that he has been to jail before because of a fight. Also because they know that he was at the house and he could have hurt her in some way.

1. Tom Robinson’s testimony seems to prove he is a respectable Negro. Also, he doesn’t show any of the signs that usually prove someone to be lying. His responses to the questions asked of him were quiet, with no hint of whining in his voice. This helps his case a lot. Tom does admit though, that he was previously convicted of disorderly conduct and sentenced to thirty days in jail. “Mr. Gilmer would sincerely tell the jury that anyone who was convicted of disorderly conduct could easily have had it in his heart to take advantage of Mayella Ewell, that was the only reason he cared. Reasons like that helped.”
