Chapter 10

Choose one of the following questions to answer in a complete paragraph (minimum of 3 sentences). Note which question you are responding to.

1. Scout says that "Atticus was feeble" (weak). Do you think that this is her view as she tells the story or her view when she was younger? Does she still think this after the events are recorded in this chapter? Why or why not?

2. In this chapter, Atticus tells his children that "it's a sin to kill a mockingbird". What reason does he give for saything this?

3. Jem and Scout have different views about telling people at school how well Atticus can shoot. Explain the difference. Which view is closer to your own?

Number 3.

Scout wants to go to school and tell everyone that her dad was a great shooter. Jem says no, its not a good idea. He says that if atticus hadn't told them so far there must be a good reason that he didn't want other people to know. My opinion is closer to Jems. I wouldn't go tell people if I didn't know that I was allowed to.

Question 3

Scout wants to go to school and tell everyone that Atticus was a good shooter. Jem doesnt want her to. Its not a good idea he said.Jem says "If Atticus didnt tell us it was for a good reason and that he did not want other people to know." I think Jem has the better idea. I wpuld not tell people id i did not know that i was allowed to.

2. He says they never do anything wrong. That all they ever do is provide them with good music. So it is a sin to kill a mockingbird.

This is #3. Scout wanted to tell everyone at school that Atticus was a good shooter. Jem Didn't want her to. Jem said that there must be a good reason that Atticus didn't want people to know. I think that my opinion is like Jem's. I don't think that i would tell people stuff that i wasn't allowed.

#2 He siad it was a sin becuase the mocking birds are innocent bird. They only sing and music for themselves. They don't bother anyone.

A mockingbird does nothing bad. All a mockingbird does is sing, and never does things wrong. That is why it would be so bad to kill something so pure.

But he didn't so Jem thinks that it is a bad idea to tell everyone. My view is with Jem cause I don't like to brage about my dad or mom.

#2 Atticus says that all mockingbirds do is make music for people to enjoy. They don't eat peoples crops or nest in the corn cribs. So therefore it is a sin to kill a mockingbird.

When Atticus gave them air rifles he said "I'd rather you shot at tin cans in the back yard, but I know you will go after birds. Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you cna hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." He said that because it is true because all they do is sing their hearts out for them to enjoy their not doing anything wrong but giving them entertainment.

I think her view of Atticus being feeble was when she was younger. She dosen't think this after the events are recorded in this chapter though. She doesn't think this because she finds out that there are different ways to be strong than just physically.
